The following is a list of software recommended for downloading onto your Club Secretary's laptop.

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition for Windows - Basic antivirus, antispyware and antirootkit protection for Windows available to download for free. Limited features, no support, for private and non-commercial use only. Click here to download    Make sure you download the AVG AntiVirus Free (64bit) version - approx 235MB - (AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe) for Windows 10. There is also a detailed User Manual at the bottom of the webpage that you may want to download and keep as a reference.

Web Browsers - You can choose either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome or both!     Both are free and work well. Click on the link to download them.

Email Client -  Mozilla Thunderbird is a free email application that's easy to set up and customise - and it's loaded with great features.

PDF file Reader Adobe Reader software is the free global standard for reliably viewing, printing, and commenting on PDF documents. It's the only PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all types of PDF content, including forms and multimedia. Note:  Make sure you have unticked the box for installing McAfee Security Scan Plus - you don't want this!

PDF File Writer - You can create PDF documents already from WORD, but another option is CutePDF Writer. This enables virtually any Windows applications (must be able to print) to convert to professional quality PDF documents - with just a push of a button.

Photo Management - photobucket.com allows you to upload, create and share your club photos and videos. This is a must-have for maintaining your club website. You will need to sign up and create an account and save the link in your web browser.

Photo Editing - Pixlr is the most popular online photo editor in the world. No files to install - it all happens online. Click on the link above or go to pixlr.com. Save the link as a shortcut in your web browser.

Image Resizing - Image Resizer for Windows is a utility that lets you resize one or more selected image files directly from Windows Explorer by right-clicking. This is easy to use and really handy re resizing photos for your web site.

YouTube Downloader software - Software to download and convert YouTube videos and more. You can use this to save YouTube videos, Facebook videos, Vimeo and 60+ other popular sites then convert video files to WMV, AVI, MP3, iPhone and more to allow you to save and play them back later from your computer. You can get your free YTD download here.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus - this is available for only $42 to Lions Clubs that register on the Connecting Up website. Connecting Up provides donated and discounted technology products and services from companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Symantec, Sophos and Kaspersky to to eligible income tax exempt (ITE) Australian not for profit groups and libraries. Through this program your Lions Club can access the latest products at substantially discounted prices. Please be aware that some clubs have reported that this is a long and tedious process in order to meet their requirements, and may not be worth the effort for some clubs unfortunately.

Organisations must meet all of the Microsoft Donation Program eligibility guidelines to be able to receive software donations through this program. Lions meets this as a Community Service Organisation under "Inner City or Community Activities".

Registering with Connecting Up is easy. First of all you must register and create a User Account. I suggest the Username is your Lions Club name. For the Name, use your full Lions Club name. You will also need your Club ABN. Once this is all done, your account will need to be reviewed and approved before you can make any purchases - this may take up to 3 working days!
